01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
At COZY Shokudo, the meal begins with a decision: beef tendon or prawns in your khao soi. Described as a Thai-style curry noodle soup, it combines medium-thick noodles with crispy fried noodles. Diners have remarked on the contrast between the noodles coated in rich curry and the crisp texture of the fried topping. Some reviews also note that the two choices differ in the flavour of the soup as well as the main topping; one report mentions an option to try both for anyone who cannot decide. Lime, chopped onion, pickles and coconut-based soup are served alongside, letting you adjust the taste as you eat. Some diners say the coconut soup makes the dish creamier and is enjoyable to drink on its own, too.
You can replace the noodles with rice or add a small portion of rice to finish the soup, giving you more ways to enjoy the bowl to the last spoonful. For another noodle dish, consider tom yum mama, a creamy tom yum noodle soup. It is available hot or cold; one diner who tried the cold version said a squeeze of lime brought a refreshing note and enjoyed the fine noodles’ firm texture. If you would rather have rice than noodles, there is also khao yam, a salad rice dish served for mixing together. The lunch menu also lets you choose the amount of jasmine rice.
COZY Shokudo, in Ebisu Minami, serves lunch from 11:30 to 14:30 from Wednesday to Sunday. Dogs are allowed, making it an option for lunch with your dog.
